Insurance

The effects of business and consumer pressures within the insurance market are continuing to drive change, with the deployment of flexible and accessible technology solutions to deliver competitive advantage remaining a key challenge for insurers.  Continued global consolidation within the sector, combined with increasing regulatory and compliance requirements, means that software and systems development remain business critical to the secure and efficient running of an insurance company.

At SDLC we understand the complex and highly regulated environment that insurance companies must operate within.  Our experience of working with major insurers and the knowledge we have accumulated across projects we have worked on within the sector, also means that we are well placed to partner insurance companies, regardless of size, on software testing programmes.

Having worked in “real world” situations our testing teams have developed an excellent understanding of the different elements of software testing support within the sector, including insurance applications, workflow, policies, claims processes, billing and accounting systems.  We also have a breadth of experience and understanding of specific areas of insurance such as personal/life, motor, health and property.

As insurance becomes more of a commodity product, we appreciate that insurance businesses are looking to reduce costs and improve efficiencies wherever possible within their technology model.   With the emergence of supermarket and e-insurance providers primarily operating via the web, traditional insurance companies have to also look at offering wider access to insurance products via a variety of multiple channels, including self-service products through the web and digital media. Such products demand high specification back-end software support, which in turn demands more specialist testing solutions. Poor software can result in a poor customer experience.  Sub-standard testing can also mean a significant increase in short-term and ongoing support costs to correct any errors, which can also be costly in terms of reputation.  This is where we believe that SDLC can add tangible business benefits to your software testing programme as we can add specialist skills to complement your own in-house resource.

Our independent perspective and in-depth understanding of the insurance sector also help our clients to keep ahead of regulatory demands. Software changes to support regulatory compliance are non-negotiable and we see a key part of our role being to help our insurance clients to develop robust internal controls.  Insurance companies based within Europe are likely to face new regulatory requirements based on Basel II and Sarbanes-Oxley in addition to meeting the requirements of service standard IAS39 and the BS7799 security standard.

At SDLC we pride ourselves on our own quality processes and procedures, adhering to ISO9001:2000 and ITIL Regulations.
